A 5min breathing practice for rest and relaxation
Join me in this short breathwork practice to rest and relax. In this practice, I guide us through a 4:8 breathing technique, where we slow the breath down in order to shift into a parasympathetic nervous system state. We inhale for 4 counts, then exhale for 8 counts. By lengthening our exhales, weβre activating the bodyβs natural relaxation response, quieting the mind and soothing the nervous system.
This practice is great to do at the end of the day, as a way to unwind and shift modes - and is especially effective right before going to bed.
So if you're dealing with stress, overthinking, or want some help winding down, this simple practice is something you can incorporate into your day and come back to whenever.
